A masked wrestler rushed the ring and delivered a GTS during an indy show on Friday and rumors are rife that the mystery man was CM Punk.

It has been well over five years since CM Punk wrestled his last match for WWE. Well, his last match in the business full stop. The former WWE Champion is probably sick of fans still clamoring for him to return despite him repeatedly claiming he will never be back. Or is he? Footage doing the rounds online this weekend might well suggest otherwise.

You can check the video out for yourselves below courtesy of MKE Wrestling. The independent promotion put on a show called The Last Knight on Friday. During a match between Ace Steele and Daryck St Holmes, a masked man is brought into the room and gets into the ring. He then proceeds to deliver a GTS, Punk's finisher, to St Holmes and pulls Steele on top of him for the win.

No offense to MKE but that alone isn't news, obviously. However, the rumor that the mystery man who delivered the GTS is Punk most definitely is. The show took place in Milwaukee where Punk trains MMA. There is also a photo of the Second City Saint that was apparently taken earlier in the day where he is wearing the same hoodie as the masked intruder.

Wrestling Inc has actually reported that the man was definitely Punk, claiming to have had the rumor confirmed. There are certainly still mixed messages though, and likely will be until Punk confirms the news himself. Knowing Punk, that might never happen. Some fans are skeptical due to the GTS not exactly being the best-looking move we have ever seen. However, it might well have been the first he delivered for more than five years if it really is Punk.

Even though Punk's opinion of pro wrestling was obviously soured by his final few months with WWE, he has shown signs of warming back up to the business recently. The Straight Edge Superstar appeared on a show last week to review WrestleMania 35 and also reminisced about wrestling Eddie Guerrero. Just when Punk fans had all but given up hope that he would ever return, it seems as if he may be about to shock us all.
