Matthew Rehwoldt -- the artist formerly known as Aiden English -- has joined the English language broadcast team of New Japan Pro Wrestling and will report for duty at the NJPW Resurgence show next month in Los Angeles.

NJPW announced the signing of Rehwoldt on Wednesday, July 21.

In case you missed it, the former WWE Superstar recently joined IMPACT Wrestling's roster. He briefly intended to change his ring name to Matt Rehwoldt , but later changed his mind and decided to go by his real name As a result, he is referred to as Matt Rehwoldt in NJPW announcement.

"Morris made a name for himself both in the ring and on the headset in his time in WWE, where he competed as Aiden English. Now Morris joins Kevin Kelly and Alex Koslov on the call for Resurgence. Could his background also lead to in-ring involvement? Time will tell!" the company's announcement read.

As you might recall, Rehwoldt signed a development contract with WWE back in 2012 and reported for duty at the company's feeder territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) which was later rebranded as NXT. Performing under the name Aiden English, Rehwoldt formed The Vaudevillains with Simon Gotch. The duo won the NXT Tag Team Championship and was eventually called to the main roster in 2016. In 2017 Gotch was released and The Vaudevillains were no more.

Rehwoldt then formed a popular but short-lived alliance with Rusev and Lana which birthed the phenomenon known as Rusev Day. In 2019, Rehwoldt joined WWE's cruiserweight brand 205 Live as an announcer. He was released from WWE in 2020.

Since being released by WWE, Rehwoldt has peroformed on a few independant shows, but he has primarily focused his efofrts on his Twitch channel, where he regualrly streams and interacts with his growing audience of gamers and wrestling fans.
