With Wrestlemania 34 just a few short weeks away, the NXT TakeOver show planned for that weekend is being met with high expectations. According to Mauro Ranallo, those expectations are warranted, as the commentator has stated that the show will be the biggest event of the weekend. TakeOver: New Orleans is slated to take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018, one night before the “Showcase of the Immortals” happens.

The statement was made in reply to a comment posted on Ranallo’s page asking him if he would be willing to be part of the commentary team for WrestleMania. Instead of directly answering the question, the NXT personality decided to give a shout out to his brand. The WrestleMania weekend show has garnered a lot of attention since its inception, with many cited it as the better event.

Ranallo’s comment may turn out to be true, as NXT has no plans to concede to the following night’s show. The TakeOver card is stacked, with no less than four titles on the line, as well as a highly anticipated clash between former DIY partners Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. The show is being held at The Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Mauro Ranallo began his tenure with the WWE in 2015, and quickly became regarded as possibly the best color commentator in the business. He then took a leave of absence after news got out that he was the victim of harassment from co-commentator John Bradshaw Layfield. After several months, it was confirmed that he would be returning to the company, this time behind the announce table for NXT. Since then, he, and the brand itself have continued to flourish.

Claiming that NXT TakeOver: New Orleans will be the biggest show of the weekend, and therefore quite possibly the years, may seem a bit biased coming from the show’s main on-air personality. However, it is a sentiment that is becoming echoed more and more throughout the WWE Universe, as fans everywhere prefer the developmental brand’s style and superior booking. The best case scenario for the weekend of April 7, 2018, is that everyone comes away satisfied with all of the matches and events taking place. There is more than enough room for both shows to shine, and we all hope they do just that.
