Mick Foley has revealed that he did not like the promo he was made to belt out in order to introduce the 24/7 title.

The former hardcore star says he was given scripts that he just didn't feel and actually felt like the promo was one of the worst he's ever done.

“I wasn’t happy with my promo," Foley said on the Sunday Night's Main Event podcast (h/t 411Mania). "I thought it was the worst promo I’ve given in-ring in many — well I guess there were a couple of worse ones when I was GM. As far as the one offs, I think it was the worst I’ve done in a number of years. But I still saw it, even when there was backlash against the title, that people were going to get into the spirit of it, and it was going to be a fun part of the show. And I think that is the case."

Foley admitted feeling like the new belt wouldn't be well received by fans when they found out the Harcore tiitle wouldn't be returning and he was right to feel that way as the announcement was quite underwhelming. However, it's proven to be one of the best ideas WWE's had in a long time, with R-Truth and Drake Maverick's involvement being pure comedy.

“Well I felt the buzz growing, you know, especially when I, you know, the promo is based around the parts that I didn’t forget, were based around that being champion was [an] around-the-clock job," the ex-wrestler explained.

"You don’t just train as a champion, wrestle the champion. The moment I said, ‘It’s 24 hours a day, seven days a week,’ I felt that buzz. At that point if I had pulled out anything but the Hardcore Title, it was going to be a big letdown. So when I pulled out this new title belt, I felt all the oxygen leave the room.”

Foley says his memory isn't what it used to be, which is why he doesn't like being handed scripts. But we're sure he's happy to have been part of the inaugural affair given the Championship's success so far.
