Mike Kanellis has been one of the most underused and poorly booked superstars since joining the WWE in 2017, and it's no secret that he and wife Maria are unhappy in the company right now.

It was reported back in January that the Kanellis power couple asked to be released from their WWE contracts, but the company apparently won't grant their wish. Thus, Mike and Maria just have to wait around and hope they'll eventually get their pushes while working the 205 Live brand.

In case you didn't think it could get much worse for the Kanellis', it already seems like Mike won't be competing at WrestleMania 35. He took to Twitter to voice his frustration, though it's unknown if Kanellis is truly expressing frustration or if this is part of a storyline.

205 Live general manager Drake Maverick revealed a tournament to determine who will face Buddy Murphy for his Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 35. Even though Kanellis is one of the more talented superstars on the brand, WWE simply isn't planning to put him in the tournament.

This could be another WWE angle where a superstar takes to social media to voice their frustration at management, which Becky Lynch has been doing aplenty since being "suspended" by the McMahons. But for all we know, Kanellis is doing his best to get out of his WWE contract, which means expressing how unhappy he is with his place in the company.

There was plenty of hype around both Mike and Maria when they came over to the WWE, following a highly successful run together in Impact Wrestling. Fans are and pundits are disappointed with how they've been booked in WWE, and the fact Mike won't even get to compete for the Cruiserweight Championship goes to show that the company simply doesn't value him that much.

What This Means

It'll be interesting to see down the road if Kanellis is really just voicing his anger and frustration about how WWE has booked him. For all we know, he's going to keep doing this until the company releases him and Maria from their contracts. We'll find out soon enough if this was real talk, or if Kanellis is just doing this as part of a storyline.
