Minnesota Vikings fans needn't reminders about how much heartbreak and despair they've had to endure in the Super Bowl era.

Historically speaking, the Vikings have been one of the more successful and consistent NFL organizations. But the one thing missing in that Minnesota trophy room is a Super Bowl championship, which always slips out of their grasps.

Reddit user ViktorDrajic pointed out another sad stat that will disturb Vikings fans even more: They're the only NFL franchise that has an all-time winning percentage but no Super Bowl championships.

Per Statista.com, the Vikings have won 54.6 percent of games in their history, which is the sixth-best among NFL franchises. Only the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots have superior all-time winning percentages. And all of those teams but the Bears have won multiple Super Bowl championships.

Indeed, the Vikings are kings of getting their fans' hopes up, only to dash them in the most gut-wrenching fashion you can think of.

This team reached three Super Bowl appearances in the '70s, led by the great Fran Tarkenton at quarterback and the iconic "Purple People Eaters" defense. But the Vikings, figuratively, lost all three of those Super Bowl games.

And nobody can mention heartbreaking Viking playoff losses without mentioning the 1998 NFC Championship Game. The Vikings went 15-1 that season and looked destined to reach the Super Bowl.

However, kicker Gary Anderson - after making every single attempt in the regular season - missed a field goal that would have iced the same and sent Minny to the big dance. The Atlanta Falcons scored a late touchdown to tie the game and force overtime.

And then there was Blair Walsh missing a game-winning 27-yard field goal in the 2015 NFC Wild Card round against the Seattle Seahawks, and a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in last year's NFC Championship Game.

What This Means

It's just another stat to outline the amount of misery Minnesota Vikings fans have endured for a half a century. And unless $84 million quarterback Kirk Cousins starts playing at a high level in the coming weeks, their championship drought will only continue.
