Miro is the new TNT Champion after defeating Darby Allin in the main event Wednesday night's edition of AEW Dynamite on TNT.

Mere seconds before the show went off the air, Miro was able get the win in what was solid match that featured a surprising amount of offence from the defending champ Darby Allin.

Miro attacked Allin before the bell had rung and proceeded to beat him up for some time. Eventually, the scrappy Allin was able to turn the tables on his much larger opponent.

The match came to an end when Miro locked in his submission and the ref called for the bell. It's unclear whether Darby tapped out or passed out.

After the match, Lance Archer emerged and confronted the brand new TNT Champion.

The artist formerly known as Rusev has now won his first championship since parting ways with WWE in April of 2020.

The Bulgarian's last appearance for WWE was on the Feb. 17 episode of Raw when he teamed with Humberto Carillo in a tag team match against Bobby Lashley and Angel Garza.

Before that, he had been involved in a poorly received angle in which his real life wife Lana "divorced" him so she could marry Lashley.

Miro (real name Miroslav Barnyashev) had some buzz when he initially debuted on WWE's main roster following an decent run in developmental. He would quickly capture the WWE United States Championship and run roughshod over the locker room with an impressive undefeated streak. He eventually entered a feud with John Cena which culminated at WrestleMania 31.

After that, things were up and down for the native Bulgarian. He managed to win the adoration of the WWE Universe with his "Rusev Day" gimmick, but for whatever reason, this popularity didn't translate into a push.

Miro joined AEW in September of 2020, but some fans weren't particularly happy with the way he was booked at the start of AEW tenure.

"I'm just kind of rebuilding him, to be honest with you. I thought he got beat up so badly," AEW President Tony Khan said of Miro during a media call in December of 2020. "I saw some jackass on Twitter was like, 'This guy drove a tank at WrestleMania and now he's doing this,' and I'm like, 'Yeah, and then he got kicked in the nuts and they treated him like shit for years! He drove a tank out five years ago. That's not the guy I signed. The guy I signed had been abused for years. And he's being rebuilt."
