Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner underwent a remarkable transformation over the summer, thanks to a grueling offseason training regimen at a facility simply known as 'The Ranch'.

Turner, who also signed a four-year extension with the Pacers this week, will earn a reported $80 million over the course of the next four seasons and looks ripped and ready to go, heading into his fourth NBA campaign.

The player spoke to The Athletic's Shams Charania before he signed his new deal with the Eastern Conference side on Monday and would open up on that portion of his summer, detailing the routine that has left him sporting a neat sixpack.

"It was a very long summer but it was very beneficial," he told Shams. "The biggest thing for me was I wanted to work a lot smarter this summer more efficiently.

"I woke up about six or seven o'clock every morning, but because of the Texas heat you can't do too much in the afternoon so I got a lot of my outdoor workouts in as soon as I woke up.

"Then I did more of my weightlifting stuff and two-a-days with basketball. The yoga was implemented two to three times a week, so it was definitely a lot but I've reaped the benefits and I'm feeling good now.

"The ranch is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, it's kinda outside of Fort Worth, not a lot of distractions out there and that's exactly how I wanted it. It worked out perfectly.

Asked at what point he felt like he needed a change, Turner revealed it was some time after the All-Star game, explaining that he felt winded throughout a particular week.

"Around after the All-Star game last year I just wasn't feeling like myself," he said. "I was breathing a little bit heavier, I felt heavy and I knew that I wasn't in the right shape or the shape I needed to be so I knew it was gonna have an impact on me.

"I told myself this summer I was gonna change up stuff that I normally did and my whole regimen just kinda stopped it from there.

"It wasn't necessarily a single game, it was a really specific week and I remember I was just gassed and I knew a lot of it came from my eating habits and just bad nutrition."

Turner posted career averages 12.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in his first three seasons with the Pacers. He scored eight points and grabbed eight boards in 20 minutes as his side cruised to a 111-83 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
