Considering perhaps one of the worst episodes of the year, Friday's SmackDown included a karaoke segment that has been universally met with distaste by the fan base. The women aren't being blamed for the segment but one of the four women involved is responding anyway.

After having to sing Dusty Rhodes "American Dream" theme song, Naomi mixed a ton of dance moves into the bit and was the easy winner via a vote from the partial crowd at the WWE Performance Center. Who knows if she felt awkward with the segment before reading the feedback, but after seeing some of the responses online, Naomi chimed in. After one fan said she would have rather watched the four women wrestle, Naomi agreed, saying the women in the segment did their best to turn chicken sh-t into chicken salad.

She didn't clarify why WWE had these women do the segment as it was presented on SmackDown but she clearly would have rather have wrestled and is trying to make the most out of something the ladies all knew was likely to be a train wreck. To her credit, as bad as the segment was, it could have been so much worse.

Naomi apologized to the fan for having to watch it but it's really not her fault. This was just a bad, but memorable idea from the writing team at a time that the company was likely short-staffed due to a recent outbreak of positive COVID-19 cases. We're not sure how Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, Tamina Snuka, and Jey Uso felt about the television time, but it's likely a fair bet some of them were cringing at the thought of having to be involved.

There Are Bound To Be More Of These

As WWE tries to navigate the pandemic and work short-handed, there are bound to be other misses when it comes to storyline ideas or segments. For the talent, some may figure some television time is better than none and they'll do their best to entertain the fans even if they know the segment is probably going to be awful.
