The NBA is in full swing with its postseason, but the league is already looking ahead to the offseason as the MVP award finalists were announced on Wednesday night. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and James Harden are the three finalists and the winner will be announced at the NBA Awards Show on June 25.

LeBron will be going for his fifth MVP award which would tie him with Michael Jordan and Bill Russell for second most in NBA history (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won six MVPs). Davis has won an All-Star Game MVP award but his best finish for the season award was a fifth place finish in the 2014-15 season. Harden is considered the favorite after leading the Rockets to the best record in the NBA while also leading the league with 30.4 points per game. He has finished runner-up for the award in two of the last three seasons.

The MVP award is just one of a number of awards to be handed out in late June. The Rookie of the Year award will also be announced and those finalists are Philadelphia's Ben Simmons, Utah's Donovan Mitchell and Boston's Jayson Tatum.

Anthony Davis is also in the running for the Defensive Player of the Year award alongside Joel Embiid of the 76ers and Rudy Gobert of Utah. If Davis wins this award and the MVP award, then he will join Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon as the only players to win both awards in the same season.

One award to be announced on June 25 could lead to an awkward moment and that is the Coach of the Year award. Dwane Casey is in the running but he was recently fired by the Toronto Raptors and making things even more uncomfortable is the fact that Raptors ambassador, Drake, hosted the event last year and could do so again this year. The other finalists are Quin Snyder of Utah and Brad Stevens of Boston.
