We didn't see two things coming this week.
1. Somebody taking away the top spot from the Golden State Warriors in power rankings
2. Kevin Durant and Draymond Green getting into a fight so big, that it's come to the point where some believe at least one of the two stars will leave Golden State this offseason.
It's been a crazy last few days in the NBA, and we await to see what other shenanigans will take place. For now, enjoy this week's power rankings - featuring a new No. 1.
30. Cleveland Cavaliers (2-12)
Welp. The decision to try and field a playoff team after LeBron James' departure hasn't worked out. On the bright side, the Cavaliers are sure to land a top-three selection in the 2019 draft.
29. Atlanta Hawks (3-12)
Trae Young is an early candidate for Rookie of the Year, so at least Hawks something to cheer about. But as everybody expected, 2018-19 will mark plenty of losses for Atlanta. It's part of the rebuilding process.
28. Phoenix Suns (3-11)
Another top-five pick to join a young core of Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker and Josh Jackson is enough for Suns fans to celebrate. At least the Coyotes are off to a good start?
27. Chicago Bulls (4-12)
Expectations were incredibly low for the Bulls this season, now they're dealing with a bunch of injuries. They'll be in contention for a top-five pick. On the bright side, Kris Dunn is evidence that Chicago won the Jimmy Butler trade.
26. New York Knicks (4-12)
At least the Knicks reportedly have a shot at Kevin Durant in free agency? Kristaps Porzingis will return soon and help this struggling offense, too.
25. Washington Wizards (5-10)
Following an awful 1-7 start, the Wizards have slowly regained their form and are inching closer to the playoff picture. The goal now is for the core to healthy (Bradley Beal, John Wall, Otto Porter Jr.).

24. Miami Heat (6-9)
23. Brooklyn Nets (7-9)
The Nets lost three in a row before a big road win vs. the Washington Wizards. Caris LeVert's foot injury is a brutal blow to their early playoff hopes. Hard to imagine the Nets getting back to the .500 mark any time soon.
Not exactly the swan song season Dwyane Wade had in mind. Miami lost out on the Jimmy Butler sweepstakes, and it's difficult to envision getting back on track with no help on the way. It's an ageing roster that needs a big-time shake-up.
22. Minnesota Timberwolves (7-9)
FINALLY. Jimmy Butler was traded, and the Timberwolves can move on with no more locker room drama to deal with. The hope now is newcomers Robert Covington and Dario Saric can help Minny morph into a playoff contender.
21. Dallas Mavericks (6-8)
There are two positives: Luka Doncic is among the game's top rookies this year - and DeAndre Jordan could bring back a nice return at the deadline. Other than that, it's just your typical rebuilding year in Dallas.
20. Orlando Magic (7-8)
Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier are all the Magic need to stay in the playoff race. They've won five of their last seven games, but a big challenge awaits the Magic on Saturday: LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
19. Utah Jazz (7-8)
Remember, the Jazz were slow starters last year then caught fire to nab the No. 5 seed in the West. Once Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors rediscover their scoring, the Jazz will get hot again and make a run at a top-four seed in the West.
18. Charlotte Hornets (7-7)
Thanks to the high quantity of tanking teams in the East, the Hornets are in good position to make a run for the playoffs. The goal now is to extend All-Star point guard Kemba Walker. Losing him in free agency would set this team back for many years.
17. San Antonio Spurs (7-7)
DeMar DeRozan is playing at an MVP level, but the other Spurs veterans are showing their ages and starting to decline in production. This team's playoff streak is in serious jeopardy, and even the great Gregg Popovich might not be able to save it.
16. New Orleans Pelicans (8-7)
Mediocrity won't be enough to convince Anthony Davis that he should sign an extension here. Rumors continue to swirl that he'll team up with LeBron James in Laker Land. It's a tense time to be a Pelicans fan, to say the least.
15. Sacramento Kings (8-7)
Well, the Kings look like a team that wants to reach the postseason for the first time since 2006. Buddy Hield and De'Aaron Fox have been one of the top scoring duos in the league thus far. If they sustain it, the Kings should contend for one of the final playoff spots in the West.
14. Detroit Pistons (7-6)
The Pistons got back on the winning track with an impressive comeback win in Toronto on Wednesday. Head coach Dwane Casey obviously enjoyed a little payback vs. his old team. Now, if the Pistons could just find some consistency...
13. Houston Rockets (7-7)
There it is. The 65-win team from 2017-18 has found its form again. The Rockets crushed the Warriors 107-86 at home on Thursday. They've now won six of their last eight games and should be striking fear into the rest of the top teams in the West.
12. Philadelphia 76ers (10-7)
Well, the Jimmy Butler era began on a sour note, with a road loss to the Orlando Magic. Philly is in play for the top seed, but you feel like they should be better than 10-7. Butler and Joel Embiid will help them win lots of games, but title contention is pipe dream until/unless Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz figure out the shooting.

11. Indiana Pacers (9-6)
The Pacers have been sliding a bit following a promising 7-3 start to the season. Victor Oladipo is carrying the offense with 23.8 points per game, but the other starters aren't scoring enough. Indiana will make the playoffs, but their ceiling appears to be 45-50 wins.
10. Los Angeles Lakers (8-6)
An angry LeBron James is good for the Lakers, and bad for the rest of the NBA. The Lakers have now won four straight games and six of their last seven games. You folks still worried about LeBron's playoff streak coming to an end?
9. Boston Celtics (9-6)
Following a statement win over the Toronto Raptors, the Celtics reminded the league that they're probably the team to beat in the East. Boston will move up once they get on that hot win streak - one that will move them ahead of Toronto in the standings.
8. Denver Nuggets (10-5)
Yikes. The Nuggets have lost four of their last five games now - the one win coming against the lowly Atlanta Hawks. They begin a three-game road trip on Saturday against the Pelicans.
7. Memphis Grizzlies (9-5)
Memphis has been one of the early season surprises, with Mike Conley (19.2 points, 5.6 rebounds per game), leading the way. But can they keep this up? Other teams in the West are bound to turn it up a notch.
6. Oklahoma City Thunder (9-5)
Since that brutal 0-4 start, the Thunder have rallied to win nine of their last 10 games. That includes big wins over the Clippers, Lakers and Pelicans. Russell Westbrook was right: No need to panic.
5. Los Angeles Clippers (9-5)
The Clippers are enjoying a nice bounce-back season, with Tobias Harris and and Lou Williams doing it all at both ends of the court. And to think the Clippers have a chance at Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler and other top free agents this offseason. Things are trending up in LA.
4. Portland Trail Blazers (10-5)
They're in the race for the top seed in the Western Conference, thanks to Golden State's struggles. If Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum can keep this up, it's not too crazy to think Portland may finish with the top record in the regular season.
3. Milwaukee Bucks (11-4)
Following an impressive 7-0 start to the season, Milwaukee has now lost four of its last seven games. They're still going to vie for the top seed in the East, as long as Giannis Antetokounmpo continues this level of dominance.
2. Toronto Raptors (12-4)
Three straight losses for the Raptors, but they still own the top record in the Eastern Conference. It may not be long until the Boston Celtics - deeper and more talented - catch up to them, though.
1. Golden State Warriors (12-4)
The Warriors are four losses away from once again failing to top their 73-win season from 2015-16. Jokes. Fans can only hope Kevin Durant's blowup with Draymond Green on Monday won't lead to the breakup of the dynasty. It's certainly worrisome right now.
