The New Day is no longer allowed to fling pancakes out into the WWE Universe, but as of right now we have no idea why.

Vince McMahon is not the biggest fan of tag team wrestling. There are a number of things that point towards that fact. For starters, the current state of the tag division on Raw. Weirdly, SmackDown Live's tag teams being better is an even bigger sign of the boss's dislike for the wrestling style. Even though they put on some of the best matches in the company, the teams still aren't given their due.

The most talented of those teams such as The Usos and The Bar don't let that deter them. The team at the top of the pile for a number of years, however, is The New Day. The trio may also be the exception to the rule when it comes to the chairman's feelings. Why else have they been kept together all this time when they would all be great as singles stars?

However, judging by something that happened during this week's SmackDown taping, New Day's gimmick might be about to change. The show obviously hasn't aired yet, and won't do until New Year's Day, so if you want to avoid spoilers then look away now. The three Superstars came to the ring to announce that they will be participants in next month's men's Royal Rumble match.

That wasn't all New Day revealed. When you watch the show, you'll also likely notice that as the three of them make their way to the ring, their entrance is a little different. Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods did not have a big old tray of pancakes with them. They also didn't have any Booty-Os to pour into fans' mouths. In fact, they proceeded to tell fans that they are no longer allowed to throw pancakes into the WWE Universe, citing "doctor's orders" as the reason why.

There could be any number of reasons why New Day has had to stop blindly tossing pancakes at fans. For starters let's be honest, it wasn't exactly the most hygienic thing to do. It may even be a sign that the three of them are about to turn heel. It's a role they have filled before, but they are now so entertaining it would be one the trio would struggle to return to. Dropping the pancake gimmick might be the first of many steps towards that.
