Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins lost the Raw Tag Titles this week. It was their first televised defense of the championships since the night after WrestleMania.

There are an outrageous number of active championships in WWE right now. In fact, if our calculations are correct, there are currently 18 titles up for grabs across WWE's five brands. That naturally means some titles occasionally have to take a back seat as others are focused on. Since Vince McMahon isn't the biggest fan of tag team wrestling, it's usually the tag titles that suffer.

That's why you'd be forgiven for forgetting who holds all the tag team gold in WWE right now. In terms of the main roster titles, its Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins on Raw, and Daniel Bryan and Rowan on SmackDown Live. Well, it was before this week's Raw. The red brand's titles have now changed hands.

Ryder and Hawkins were tasked with defending the championships in a triple threat match against The Revival and The Usos. The two challenging teams have been battling for a while, and the now former champions found themselves caught in the crossfire. They wound up paying the ultimate price too. Scott Dawson got the pin and won the titles for himself and Dash Wilder, making them two time Raw Tag Team Champions.

Ryder and Hawkins' title win at WrestleMania was a significant one. It brought the curtain down on the latter's 200+ match losing streak. However, the pair hasn't exactly been treated well since then. Other than a defense the night after WrestleMania, Hawkins and Ryder hadn't defended the Tag Titles on TV until this week. And in that first televised defense for more than two months, they lost the gold.

The way in which The Revival is being treated and used shouldn't be ignored either. It's no secret that Dash and Dawson have been linked with a move away from WWE. All of a sudden, the pair are champions and working alongside Shane McMahon. Whether that's enough to keep them sweet remains to be seen. They'll certainly have to be featured a lot more than the previous champions if WWE wants them to stick around.
