The NFL regular season concludes this Sunday, and there are a handful of injuries to watch closely as the playoffs draw closer.

Even though most fantasy football seasons are over with now, it's worth paying attention with a handful of playoff berths still up for grabs. On top of that, there's a race for the first overall pick, with the Arizona Cardinals sitting at 3-12.

They're followed behind the 4-11 Oakland Raiders, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers. There are five teams that sit at 5-10, so the race for a top-five pick is also going down to the wire.

We'll get more updates on injured players as the week progresses. For now, here are the latest updates on some notable players as Week 17 draws closer.

Marcus Mariota

This is one to monitor closely. The Tennessee Titans play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in a win-or-go-home game. The winner will secure the final wild card spot in the AFC, but the Titans may have to battle without their star quarterback.

Marcus Mariota had to leave the Titans' Week 16 game against the Washington Redskins, and per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it's not looking promising for the 25-year-old to play this week.

That means backup Blaine Gabbert will likely be getting the call this week, barring a rapid recovery from Mariota. The former played well against Washington on Saturday, leading the Titans to a clutch fourth quarter comeback victory.

There's four days for Mariota to get healthy and cleared for Sunday's game. But right now, Titans fans shouldn't hold their breath.

Todd Gurley

The Los Angeles Rams star running back and reigning Offensive Player of the Year missed the Week 126 contest against the Arizona Cardinals. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Rams could rest Gurley again for precautionary reasons, as they try to secure a first-round bye with a victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Gurley missed his first game in three years. He has 1,251 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the season. Had he played Sunday, Gurley would have likely surpassed last season's career-high of 1,305 yards.

If the Rams lose and the Chicago Bears defeat the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Los Angeles will miss out on a first-round bye. But they'll need their star player healthy for the postseason, so it makes sense to rest Gurley here.

Phillip Lindsay

Denver Broncos rookie running back Phillip Lindsay is out for the team's Week 17 season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers after suffering ligament damage in the right wrist, per ESPN's Jeff Legwold.

The Broncos were already mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and have secured their second straight losing season - the first time the franchise has endured in 46 years. Legwold also noted it's unlikely that Lindsay takes part in the Pro Bowl.

The undrafted rookie finishes the season with 1,037 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Lindsay surpassed expectations and will surely be a key part of Denver's offense and hopeful turnaround in 2019.

Taylor Heinicke

The 25-year-old Heinicke started in favor of an injured Cam Newton in Week 16, but an elbow injury has ended his season, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Carolina has signed Garrett Gilbert to fill in for him.

Heinicke went undrafted and signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2015. The Panthers picked him up off waivers this past offseason. He has 274 yards, one touchdown and three picks in Carolina's Week 16 loss to Atlanta.

Jason Peters And Mike Wallace

The Philadelphia Eagle are expecting standout left tackle Jason Peters to be active for Sunday's must-win game against the Redskins, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Peters left Sunday's game against the Houston Texans with a quad injury.

Veteran wide receiver Mike Wallace was taken off the IR and will begin practicing this week, per Eagles insider John McMullen.

The 8-7 Eagles need a win and a Minnesota loss to Chicago on Sunday to have any hope of making the postseason. With a healthy Wallace and Peters, the Eagles will be at nearly full strength on Sunday.

Eric Ebron

As the Indianapolis Colts prepare for Sunday's virtual playoff game against the Titans on Sunday, they continue to monitor the situation of tight end Eric Ebron.

Per Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star, Ebron remains in concussion protocol and did not practice on Wednesday. He had three receptions for 28 yards in Sunday's 28-27 victory over the New York Giants.

On the season, Ebron has 62 catches for 690 yards and 12 touchdowns.
