Nia Jax is not very happy with Dave Meltzer following his statement on Roman Reigns' health.
The Big Dog, who has since returned to the ring following another battle with leukemia, announced that he's in remission last month and is due a Fastlane appearance as part of The Shield this Sunday.
Meltzer, meanwhile, discussed the star on the most recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio and seemed quite skeptical over his revelation regarding his treatment and the use of pills. While he didn't accuse Reigns of faking his illness and hardly believes that's the case, he noted that the wrestler's explanation was a bit off.
“He actually did say the pill was oral chemotherapy," Meltzer said. "It really - I don’t think it was because the pill that I was talking about, which is a new pill, and that’s what he said - he didn’t give the name of it, like I said, but…the treatment of this is usually not chemotherapy or radiation.”
Of course, that hardly went down well. And Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin was one of those who was quick to criticize the longtime wrestling savant for what he considers to be an irresponsible comment.
Speculating about storylines, upcoming matches and locker room “heat” is one thing ... but Meltzer saying Roman isn’t telling the truth about his cancer treatment is not ok. Many take his word as gospel and to speculate on such a matter is irresponsible.— Ryan Satin (@ryansatin) March 9, 2019
“Speculating about storylines, upcoming matches and locker room “heat” is one thing … but Meltzer saying Roman isn’t telling the truth about his cancer treatment is not ok," Satin tweeted. "Many take his word as gospel and to speculate on such a matter is irresponsible.”
Jax, who is also Roman's cousin, was not in the least bit pleased and took to Twitter herself to lash out at Meltzer.
“@davemeltzerWON is a piece of s**t," she wrote. "The fact that u make statements about people’s health, when u have zero knowledge about it is ridiculous. If u do have access 2 superstars PERSONAL medical info, that is a HUGE violation of HIPAA & I’m sure that’s not the case. So shut ur mouth.”
Meltzer has since backtracked on his statement but stopped short of offering an apology.
He tweeted: “On the Reigns treatment, there are different options that include a pill that is oral chemo and that is what he said he was taking and there’s no reason not to believe that, so I stand corrected on that.”

What This Means
Meltzer has always been a dependable source when it comes to wrestling's inner workings. And, while he likely didn't mean to suggest that Reigns wasn't telling the whole truth, it's something he should have probably just avoided altogether as such things are quite sensitive.
