You may recall that WWE was once planning an intergender match between former Raw Women's Champion Nia Jax and former WWE Champion Dean Ambrose, but the planned fight wound up being scrapped.

WWE had stopped advertising the match between Ambrose and Jax, and fans were left wondering why. Well, the Irresistible Force appeared on Inside the Ropes (h/t Ringside News), and finally revealed why the intergender match was canceled.

"Unfortunately, my schedule… they didn’t have the schedule right and I had Total Divas hat I had to go to so it was more of the scheduling was off and we couldn’t make it work," she said.

That all makes plenty of sense now, as Total Divas is obviously more important than one of the many matches she'll compete in throughout her career. And of course, there's plenty of time for Jax to eventually take part in an intergender match down the road.

Ambrose is leaving WWE now, having decided not to sign a new contract (his current deal expires after WrestleMania 35). This obviously means that he won't be facing Jax in an intergender match, so the latter will require a different opponent down the road for a possible intergender match.

Ambrose currently isn't on the WrestleMania 35 card, and it's been suggested that he's wrestled his final match in WWE. He was also spotted at the independent wrestling Bloodsport event earlier this week, so it seems as though he's already moved on from WWE and is exploring the next chapter of his career.

As for Jax, she's been pushed out of the main card on Raw - as WWE has been building towards the WrestleMania main event between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. Jax has formed a tag team alliance with Tamina - and the two will be in a Fatal four-way match at 'Mania for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

What This Means

Well, we finally know why the Ambrose-Jax intergender match didn't happen. It obviously wasn't the time, due to Jax's commitments with Total Divas. On top of that, WWE simply had to keep the Ambrose/Shield storyline going as he prepares for his exit from the company.
