The Philadelphia Eagles will not be keeping Super Bowl 52 MVP and hero Nick Foles, who is likely to leave in free agency this offseason.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapport, it's expected that Foles will leave the team that he guided to a Super Bowl championship last season. The 29-year-old has a $20 million option for next season, but with Carson Wentz the established and long-term starter in Philly, it doesn't make sense to keep Foles.

After Carson Wentz tore his ACL late last season, Foles came off the bench and guided the Eagles to their first Super Bowl in franchise history. Despite his heroics, it was known the entire time that the Eagles would roll with Wentz, who was in the midst of an MVP season in 2017 before his injury.

If he wanted to, Foles could re-sign for very cheap and stay with the Eagles, and provide insurance behind an injury-prone Wentz. But Foles revived his career last season and showed he's more than capable of being a starter, so it's safe to say he's only interested in joining a team that will give him the No. 1 job.

Foles started the first two games for the Eagles this season, as Wentz gradually eased his way back from injury. He went 1-1, but is expected to finish out the season as Wentz deals with a back injury.

The Eagles sit at 6-7 entering play on Sunday and need to win out, if they have any hope at making the postseason. They'll also need the Minnesota Vikings to lose at least once over their final two games to get in.

We'll see if Foles has any more heroics in him before his inevitable departure from Philadelphia.

What This Means

Teams like the Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and New York Giants could look at new quarterbacks in the offseason, so Foles will not have a problem finding a new starting job.
