Recently, we wrote a piece on WWE releasing two very promising young female talent in Abbey Laith and Sage Beckett. It hasn’t taken Laith, known around the world on the independent scene as Kimber Lee, long to return to the scene which made her popular as Chikara have announced her return for their annual King of Trios Tournament to be held in September.

As Abbey Laith, she competed in NXT for quite some time, including a pretty good showing in the Mae Young Classic. With her unique look, success outside of WWE and fan following, it seemed only a matter of time until she joined Ember Moon, Shayna Baszler and others in the top tier of NXT women, but that wasn’t to be, and WWE released her seemingly out of nowhere.

There have been rumours that the WWE Performance Centre is at capacity, and also that another one may be imminent, so when that occurs, it’s very likely that Laith could return to the WWE. But for now, it looks like she’s back to the indies, starting with Chikara where she is a former Chikara Grand Champion. As the name of the tournament suggests, she will be alongside two other wrestlers for one of the biggest tournaments on the entire independent scene, and her specific partners will be Los Ice Creams as they battle the likes of former WWE trio, The Nexus Alliance (PJ Black, Michael Tarver and Fred Rosser) with other teams to be announced at a later date.

So what do you guys think? Are you excited to see Kimber Lee back in Chikara if you follow the wacky promotion? Are you still confused as to why WWE released such a talent? Let us know all your thoughts and ideas in the comments below.
