SummerSlam weekend is almost upon us and as usual, NXT TakeOver will be kicking off the festivities on Saturday night. Five matches, all of which we cannot wait for. As always, the action will be streaming live on the WWE Network. The show will begin at 7 pm EST on Saturday, August 10, 2019. Or, if you want to check out the preshow, tune in half an hour early at 6:30 pm EST.

Adam Cole vs Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship

via WWE

The rivalry between Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano has defined NXT's 2019 so far. This Saturday at TakeOver: Toronto, the talented pair will somehow take their hatred for each other up to yet another level. They will do that by battling for the NXT Title in a 2 out of 3 fall match. Or perhaps we should be calling it a Three Stages of Hell match. A singles match, a Street Fight, and then a third stipulation of William Regal's choosing should it be needed. Prepare for war between these two on Saturday, and almost definitely a match of the year contender.

Shayna Baszler vs Mia Yim for the NXT Women's Championship

via WWE

Shayna Baszler is beginning to reach a point where she seems to be pretty unbeatable. If you discount the two months during which Kairi Sane was NXT Women's Champion, Baszler has been able to call the title her own for well over a year. She has now had the title for longer than any other champion in the title's history, aside from Asuka. The next Superstar to step up to the plate will be Mia Yim. Yim made short work of Baszler's cronies backstage, but a genuine match with Baszler will be another challenge entirely.

Velveteen Dream vs Pete Dunne vs Roderick Strong for the NXT North American Championship

via WWE

You'd be hard-pushed to find three men in NXT with more raw talent than these three right now. That's why the prospect of the trio all doing battle for the North American Title at TakeOver: Toronto has us wishing the time away between now and Saturday. It must still feel strange for Dunne to walk around without a championship considering how long he was UK Champion. Perhaps he will be able to fill that hole in his life by winning what will be an epic encounter this weekend.

The Street Profits vs The Undisputed ERA for the NXT Tag Team Championships

via WWE

Thanks to someone deciding they want to see The Street Profits on Raw, but apparently, not in the ring, the NXT Tag Team Titles have been neglected somewhat as of late. That will likely be rectified at TakeOver: Toronto. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins will be defending their titles against two members of the Undisputed ERA. If Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly win, we could end the show on Saturday night with all four members of the UE draped in gold. Wouldn't that be something?

Candice LeRae vs Io Shirai

via WWE

A few entries ago, we discussed Baszler and how no one has been able to pry the Women's Title away from her. Io Shirai is one of those who couldn't get the job done, and was effectively driven insane in the process. The last time the Japanese star battled Baszler, she snapped after losing the match. Her new, much darker outlook on life led her to attack someone she once called a friend, Candice LeRae. Things have gotten more and more heated between the two as time has passed and on Saturday, the pair of them will go to war in the night's only non-title match.
