NXT UK TakeOver Blackpool: Match Card, Start Time, Updates, & Where To Watch

A little more WWE history will be made on Saturday, January 12, 2019. That's because Blackpool, England will play host to NXT UK's very first TakeOver event. It will feel extremely special for a number of reasons, including WWE's British stars returning to the building where the first UK Title tournament was held. UK fans will not have to stay up all night to watch this show. That's because it is scheduled to start at 7 pm GMT this Saturday. For fans in the US, that's 2 pm EST. It will still air on the WWE Network like a regular TakeOver.

Pete Dunne vs Joe Coffey for the United Kingdom Championship

WWE's United Kingdom Championship was introduced long before the country and its wrestlers had its own branch of NXT. In January 2017 to be exact. Despite that being so long ago, the title has still only had two holders. That's because current champion Pete Dunne will have held the title for an incredible 602 days by the time NXT TakeOver UK Blackpool takes place on Saturday. His challenger this weekend may be his toughest yet, though. Joe Coffey is not to be messed with, as he proved on the final episode of NXT UK before TakeOver. Coffey pinned former champion Tyler Bate to win a six-man tag match between Gallus and British Strong Style. If he can do the same to The Bruiserweight this Saturday, we will have a new champion.

Rhea Ripley vs Toni Storm for the NXT UK Women's Championship

Even though Dunne versus Coffey will be a hard-hitting affair, we really thought this match would be the main event of NXT UK's first TakeOver. The build to this match has been terrific and WWE is clearly impressed with both Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm. Ripley is NXT UK's first Women's Champion, and Storm won the second ever Mae Young Classic. No matter what happens between these two, the future is bright for both of them. The two Aussies are in their early 20s and are already extremely talented. We fully expect this to be match of the night on Saturday.

Moustache Mountain vs Zack Gibson and James Drake for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships

There was talk of the UK having its own WWE show for a long time before it actually happened. That's because some names had to be established before it could happen. Bate and Trent Seven are two of those names. Everyone who watches NXT is familiar with Moustache Moutain. They even held the Tag Team Titles. At TakeOver this weekend, the pair will have the chance to be NXT UK's first ever Tag Team Champions. To do that, they will need to defeat the intimidating duo of Zack Gibson and James Drake. This one is much more than a filler match and those titles could be going home with either team at this point.

Dave Mastiff vs Eddie Dennis in a No Disqualification Match

If you are looking for the match on the card that is going to bring with it the most chaos, then look no further than this match. It has been plain to see since NXT UK's weekly show began that Dave Mastiff and Eddie Dennis will be two of the brand's biggest stars, and deservedly so. This likely violent match will be the perfect advert for what big men can do in the modern era. These two have a lot more than size on their side but trust us when we tell you that will certainly add to this match at TakeOver.

Travis Banks vs Jordan Devlin

Even though it doesn't feel like it after the fact, most TakeOver cards have a sleeper match. This is Saturday's example of that. That being said, make sure you do not sleep on this one. Travis Banks and Jordan Devlin are both tremendous athletes, and even though the build to this one hasn't had the biggest spotlight shone on it, it'll be a terrific match. Devlin is out to prove he should get a second shot at Dunne. Provoking the Kiwi Buzzsaw along the way probably wasn't the best way of doing that, though. If he loses at TakeOver then he can kiss a UK Title shot any time soon goodbye. Banks, on the other hand, could be next in line.
