The Orlando Magic current situation is far from the franchise’s glory days when a young Shaquille O'Neal and a healthy Penny Hardaway beat the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan and reached the NBA Finals for the first time in the history of the team. But at least this season the fans will have the iconic pinstriped uniform that they used to wear to bring back some good memories.

To celebrate the franchise 30th anniversary, the Magic will employ a new logo and intermittently wear almost the exact same pinstriped blue jersey that they used to wear on the road from four seasons, from 1994 to 1998.

The throwback jersey will not be a replica from the 90’s jersey since there will be a few differential touches. The Nike and Disney logo patches on the upper area of the jersey, and a “Magic” wordmark across the front waistband.

During the four seasons that the Magic wore the pinstriped uniform on the road, the team went three times to the playoffs, reaching the Eastern Finals twice, and the NBA Finals once, when they were swept by the Houston Rockets of Hakeem Olajuwon. This was arguably the best era of the Orlando Magic, since they beat in 1995 in six games the best dynasty of all time, the 90s Chicago Bulls, although it's important to mention that this was the first year of Michael Jordan in the NBA after his first retirement. A year later, the Bulls swept Orlando in the Conference Finals.

The team announced that they will wear the classic uniform 14 times this season, including the season opener night on Oct. 17, 2018, against the Miami Heat.

Certainly, it will be hard for this season’s Magic to have results as good as the ones the 1994-1998 team achieved, but who knows? Maybe wearing the most iconic jersey in the franchise will help the team.
