Legendary basketballer Oscar Robertson sold his NBA Championship ring as part of a Leland's auction. The ring went for a little more than $91,000.

As is being reported by NBA.com, Oscar Robertson's 1971 NBA championship ring was put up for bid in a Leland 2018 Invitational Auction. His items were the centerpiece of the show and among other things that sold, his ring, that he won as a guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, went for $91,137.60 on Friday night.

The ring was the top seller from a collection of his items and featured a diamond and the inscription "NBA World Champions" on the face. It was one of 51 pieces of Robertson memorabilia auctioned off by Lelands.com. The collection also included Robertson's Indiana State high school championship ring, College Player of the Year trophy, his Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame ring which sold for about $60,000 and one of his game-used Bucks jerseys, which went for a little more than $50,000.

Robertson made history in the NBA by being the first player to ever average a triple-double in a season with an output of 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 11.4 assists. It was a marker not equaled by anyone for nearly 50 years until Russell Westbrook averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists in the 2016-17 season. To this date, they are the only two players who have accomplished this amazing feat over the course of one single NBA season.

Robertson spent the first 10 seasons of his NBA career with the Cincinnati Royals before joining the Bucks in 1970 and will go down in history as of one of the NBA's great players. It's no surprise his auction items went for a large amount. Although, perhaps it is a bit surprising it went for so much.

$91,000 is a lot of money for any collector to be spending on a championship ring. There are no reports of what the buyer plans to do with it next.
