The Miami Heat were on the verge of acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves back on Oct. 8, 2018, and now it has been revealed what their offer was for the four-time all-star.

The Heat reportedly offered Josh Richardson, Kelly Olynyk and a protected first-round pick to the Timberwolves for Butler. The Timberwolves decided they could get a better offer than that, so they passed on it.

After the Timberwolves called Heat President, Pat Riley, to ask for a better offer than the one he gave them. Riley then had some let's say choice words for them.

Riley has now announced that he is pulling the plug on all trade negotiations for Butler until the price lowers. Which doesn't appear to be anytime soon.

The Timberwolves are in a tough spot with trade negotiations because reports are now hinting that the market has gone quiet for Butler. There was also the problem of Butler not wanting to participate in any basketball activities up until shortly before the season had begun. This has led to a chain reaction of problems for Tom Thibodeau and the Timberwolves.

Butler was also reportedly clashing with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins on and off the court. Butler has felt discouraged by the Timberwolves front office for throwing big money contracts at both Towns and Wiggins.

The Timberwolves offered Butler a max contract extension this past July and he turned it down. Butler has made it known that he has reportedly wanted out of Minnesota for a while now.

The four-time all-star is potentially hurting his chances of getting moved out of Minnesota because of his behavior. Butler has gone on ESPN to discuss all of the problems with the Timberwolves locker room and opposing GM's don't like to over look those type of things regardless of how good the player is.

The challenge for acquiring Butler is that he can opt-out and become a free agent at the end of the season. Butler has stated his desire to enter free agency for a massive contract. So opposing teams would likely only be acquiring him for the season.

The Los Angeles Clippers have two max contract slots available this summer and it has been rumored as a destination for Butler. It will be interesting to see if Butler eventually gets moved or not, especially with what the Timberwolves want in return for him.
