The Green Bay Packers have made a couple of major moves to change up the offense. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team is signing Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham, but also releasing perennial star wideout Jordy Nelson:

The Packers are hoping that Graham will finally supply this team with a legitimate tight end option. Martellus Bennett was signed to a three-year, $21 million contract last year - but was released mid-season.

Graham was named to his fifth Pro Bowl in 2017, catching 57 passes for 520 yards and 10 touchdowns. He posted a pair of 1,000-yard seasons with the New Orleans Saints, but his three-year tenure with the Seattle Seahawks was very up-and-down, marred by injuries and inconsistency.

But as Graham enters the Packer offense, Jordy Nelson leaves it. The 32-year-old spent 10 years in the organization. He was named to the 2014 Pro Bowl and helped Green Bay win Super Bowl 45.

However, Nelson had a very down year (53 catches for 482 yards and six touchdowns), after posting at least 1,000 yards in four of the previous five years. Given his age (33), declining production and expensive salary, a release made sense for the Pack - who can now fill other roster holes with the freed up space.

Green Bay missed the postseason for the first time in nine years this past season. Rodgers missed most of the season with a fractured collarbone, and the entire team fell apart. Seeing that the rival Minnesota Vikings signed Kirk Cousins, the Packers front office had to make moves to keep pace in the NFC North.

Graham will certainly help fix a Packer offense that lacks a strong ground game and is over-reliant on their receivers, namely Davanta Adams and Randall Cobb. Losing Nelson may be hard for many Packer fans to accept, but it probably was the logical move.

Now, enjoy watching Rodgers and Graham light up the scoreboard.
