Two days after costing the Green Bay Packers a chance to defeat the undefeated Los Angeles Rams with a kick return fumble, Ty Montgomery has been traded to the Baltimore Ravens.

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news, announcing that the Ravens will give the Packers a seventh-round pick for Montgomery.

Naturally a wide receiver, Montgomery was moved to running back for the 2016 season as the Packers began to deal with a rash of injuries. The speedy and versatile Montgomery should be an excellent addition to a Ravens offense that loves using gadget players of his caliber.

It's a bitter and sour end to the Montgomery era in Green Bay, but a fresh start may be the best for both parties. Montgomery enraged his teammates and coaches when he made the decision to run the ball out of the end zone in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Rams.

Coaches reportedly instructed Montgomery to take a knee in the end zone, thus giving Aaron Rodgers two minutes to drive his team into field goal range. But Montgomery's fumble ended that hope, and the Rams were able to run out the clock to move to 8-0.

Per NFL.com's Mike Silver, one coach said Rodgers was "hot," and "very, very mad" over Montgomery's fateful decision. An unnamed Packers player said Montgomery was angry after being taken out of a play and called his actions a (expletive) joke.

The Ravens need another player to complement the likes of Michael Crabtree, John Brown and Alex Collins. Montgomery can work nicely as both a wide receiver and running back, as the Ravens try to rebound following two consecutive losses.

Green Bay also didn't have much use for Montgomery, thanks to the production of Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams at running back. A fresh start is the best for Montgomery, and the Ravens are the ideal team for his skill set.
