The worst possible news has sadly become a reality for injured WWE superstar, Paige. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is reporting that Paige will not be cleared, and her days as a wrestler are "done."

At a Dec. 28 house show, Paige received a kick from Sasha Banks and fell to the ground. WWE officials and medical staff attended to her right away, though Paige was able to get up and walk on her own. Paige had just returned a month earlier - missing over a year of action after undergoing neck surgery.

According to Johnson, it's believed that she was told about her days in the ring being over during this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. It's also a similar injury the one that forced Hall of Famer Edge into early retirement back in 2011.

It's obviously devastating news for a 25-year-old Paige, who was just in the midst of her prime wrestling years. The two-time Divas Champion had just formed the Absolution alliance with Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, seemingly setting her up for another main event run on the women's roster.

The very first female Royal Rumble is set to take place at the Jan. 28 pay-per-view show, but she'll be forced to sit out and miss the historic moment.

Unfortunately, there isn't an alternative scenario for Paige. Edge was warned by doctors that he'd be at risk of permanent paralysis or even death if he continue to wrestle with the neck injury. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Sting were other legendary superstars who had to retire after serious neck injuries.

Given her popularity and excellent microphone skills, Paige could still end up working with the WWE in a manager role - perhaps for Deville and Rose. But safety must come first, which is obviously why the WWE is putting a stop to a very promising career.
