It could be a storyline or it could be legit, but apparently, Pat McAfee was pulled from television, "fired" by WWE on Christmas Day and he wasn't aware of it until a day later.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McAfee has reportedly been pulled off WWE programming and in a decision that doesn't seem to be sitting well with the former NFL punter and media juggernaut McAffee is claiming he's been fired.

McAfee took to social media one day after the holiday and wrote, "I think I got fired on Christmas." He didn't post a letter from WWE or any sort of notice from the company, just simply retweeted multiple screen shots of other news reports suggesting he was pulled and potentially terminated.

It's not known if he's poking fun at the reports or if he's confirming the story, or why WWE made the decision to pull him.

While he was playing a key role as the voice of one of the main heel groups on the NXT brand, speculation is that his run as the leader of a group featuring Pete Dunne and the NXT Champions duo of Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch is now over.

McAfee Was Doing Extremely Well

The decision is somewhat surprising considering his importance to the storyline and the praise he was receiving as part of the show. In recent weeks, both Steve Austin and CM Punk praised him for his work. Austin said, "Pat McAfee's badass, I think he's doing a really, really good job. I give him a solid A." CM Punk also recently praised McAfee, saying that he is a better promo than anyone in WWE.

At the same time, it's been reported by multiple outlets that being a WWE performer was something McAfee really wanted. It seems odd to imagine he'd just up and quit.
