The main reason for the Raw Reunion show was to pop a rating, and that is exactly what it did.

As we edge ever closer to SmackDown's move to Fox, the gradual decline of WWE's ratings must be pretty worrying. Since Fox paid $1 billion for the rights to SmackDown, and USA Network paid even more to keep Raw, it wouldn't be a surprise to hear that executives from both networks are asking questions. Vince McMahon needed to do something to distract from that.

In case of emergency, break glass and set free legends from the past. In this case, it was as many legends from the past as WWE could possibly fit on the show. From Stone Cold to John Cena to the antics with the 24/7 Title, it sounds as if, for the most part, the Raw Reunion show was a big hit. The number of people watching at home is an even bigger sign that the show did exactly what it needed to do.

The Wrap reports that Monday night's Raw was the most-watched episode of the show for more than a year. 3.09 million people tuned in to see Superstars from the past reunite and celebrate the long-running show. What's more, saving Stone Cold for last proved to be a stroke of genius. Raw's third hour is usually the lowest of the three ratings-wise. On Monday, it did better than the first hour.

As mentioned, the last time Raw managed to pull in as many viewers as this was more than a year ago. During the 2018 Superstar Shakeup episode, to be exact. That means it registered a better rating than this year's Raw after WrestleMania, and was a marked difference versus last week's 2.45 million viewers.

When it comes to recent history, the Raw Reunion rating was still left wanting when compared to Raw 25. The anniversary show was watched by a massive 4.53 million viewers. Fans who watched that show might have actually skipped the Raw Reunion due to the issues WWE had with splitting Raw 25 across two venues. So with the rating well and truly popped, what's next? As much as Mr. McMahon wishes he could have a Raw Reunion every week, next Monday, we will return to our normally scheduled sports entertainment.
