This week's Raw revolved around the pending retirement of Rey Mysterio. Using the first 40 minutes of the show to set up Rey's announcement for later in the night — an announcement that never came — Seth Rollins now has a new adversary in Rey's son, who vowed an eye for an eye.

Apollo was supposed to defend his newly won United States Championship, but ended up in an unexpected tag match with his chosen opponent. So too, earlier in the day, NFL star Rob Gronkwoski lost the 24/7 Title. Nia Jax played a big role in the show but provided more evidence she's one of the most dangerous workers in WWE and Lana schemed against MVP.

Here are your winners and losers for Raw, June 1, 2020:

Winner: Seth Rollins Opening

Seth Rollins is so completely over the top with this gimmick, it's fantastic. We've talked to plenty of fans who aren't loving his new character, but to us, this is about the best Rollins has ever been. He's doing exactly what is being asked of him, which is to create a character you absolutely want to see get what's coming to him. Targeting Rey Mysterio on this night was extra sleazy because of the promotion from WWE that Rey will potentially retire.

One person who couldn't take it any longer was Aleister Black. He'd listened to just about enough of Rollins promising to relay Mysterio's retirement message, so he came out to get a piece.  Clearly outnumbered by Rollins' disciples. It took Humberto Carrillo to even up the sides.

The match was strong, but the quick finish a little disappointing considering the first 45 minutes was really dedicated to what was going on. Rollins ended up getting the last laugh by attacking both Black and Carrillo after the bell. A strong opening to the show, one they inexplicably recapped only 20 minutes later in the show.

Loser: Owens and Crews Leads To Another Andrade Pin

Before Kevin Owens was willing to accept the invitation to battle for the United States Championship, he wanted to make sure the match wasn't coming out of pity. Once he accepted, it was difficult to tell if it was going to be a short reign for Apollo Crews or if Owens was going to put over the new champion. It didn't matter because the bout never got to that point.

Angel Garza and Andrade came out to interrupt a contest WWE probably shouldn't have booked in the first place. A match that included two stars WWE wanted to protect predictably turned into a tag match. Crews and Owens then took the fight to Zelina Vega's men who were trying to steal their spotlight, Crews getting a big pin on Andrade.

Not only was this not a singles match WWE should have booked, but the sudden shift to a tag match that only hurt Andrade. This has been a rough month for the once highly-touted star. As the announcers pointed out, this is now three losses to Crews in a matter of months.

This whole segment hurt pretty much everyone involved in it.

Winner/Loser: Street Profits and Viking Raiders Go Bowling

First it was basketball, then axe throwing and golf. Monday night, The Street Profits and Viking Raiders continued their battle for competitive dominance by going bowling. The Raiders dominated when the lights were on. The Street Profits took advantage as the glow-bowling began. Eventually, the Raiders won by one point, tying the competition at two wins each.

We can see why some fans like this, and why others don't. This isn't exactly the best representation of athletic competition, but it has moments of hilarity. The only thing that concerns me here is that the two teams are becoming friends and if there's no match at the end of all this, what's the point?

Winner: Dominick Vows to Avenge His Father's Attack

Even though it was predictable that Dominick would get involved in the Mysterio and Rollins storyline, it was good to see him back in WWE. It looks like the company is setting up his involvement, despite what will likely Rey's advice to stay away.

This is Rey doing a great job acting angry, even though he's today's Ricky Steamboat of WWE and can't really sell angry. This was also Dominick taking his first steps towards actively getting involved in WWE storylines. Whether he winds up with Rollins or not is unclear. If that happens, it will be interesting to see how different his skills are than his father's.

Loser: Rob Gronkowski Loses 24/7 Title

This isn't about the fact Gronk is no longer the 24/7 champion. Putting the title around his waist was probably a mistake to begin with. Why this is such a loser is because WWE seems to have put together a quick segment to explain why Gronk won't be involved in WWE any longer.

Now that he's going back to the NFL, there really wasn't a way to keep him doing the WWE thing. This segment, with R-Truth acting as a gardener and pouncing during a Tik Tok video, is the best WWE could come up with. That's kind of sad.

Loser: Nia Jax

It's hard to keep excusing what seems to be regular accidents in Nia Jax's matches. There's a saying that when trying to find the fault in a series of incidences, look for the common factor. It always seems to be Jax. On Monday, fans got to see what appears to be the spot that knocked Kairi Sane out of action when Jax threw her head first into the ringside steps. It was ugly.

Even if you can argue this is an accident, why is Jax having so many close calls with wrestlers who seem to wind up getting hurt or close to hurt? The only good thing here is that Jax looks like a monster heel. Maybe we've all got this wrong and she's doing exactly what WWE wants her to do, which is walk the line of what's real and what isn't.

Jax then showed up later in the night to interrupt the champion versus champion match between Asuka and Charlotte.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

In the first segment where Drew McIntyre looked over-matched, Bobby Lashley got a full nelson locked in on McIntyre and there was nothing Drew could do to get him off. McIntyre looked dominant in his match with MVP, but the takeaway here is that Lashley comes off as a legitimate competitor.

On Raw Talk following the broadcast, Samoa Joe, said this was the first time McIntyre picked a fight with someone that might be his equal.
