With WWE heading towards Evolution and Crown Jewel and likely set to take Monday's episode in one direction, the announcement by Roman Reigns to open the show that he was leaving due to a bout with leukemia, the show's direction was dramatically affected and so were future storylines.

Reigns departure set in motion a series of events that will undoubtedly shape the way Raw and the WWE travels in the future. There were face and heel turns, changes to main events and all the things fans would normally like to see, but hard a harder time enjoying on Monday since it came at the expense of Reigns' ability to perform.

WWE did it's best to go on with the show, but you could tell things changed.

Neither: Roman Reigns

The news that Reigns was, once again, battling the same diagnosis of leukemia that he'd been diagnosed with over 11 years ago was simply awful. There's no comparing the negatives of the rest of the night to what Reigns must be feeling having to relinquish the title, leave WWE and fight a battle that will be scary for both he and his family.

There's not much more that can be said, other than, we wish the best for Roman and hope for a speedy recovery. Love him or hate him, this is not the type of news you should ever wish upon anyone. He says he's not done and it's hard not to believe him.

Winner: Elias

The Drifter was always on the verge of becoming a fan favorite. The news of Reigns' departure may have sped up the process of moving Elias in that direction. Once again, Elias had fans eating out of his palm. But, unlike typical promos where Elias did whatever he could to get the crowd to hate him, he turned on Baron Corbin, sealing his fate as a heel and making him someone the fans would get behind.

If you want to turn someone babyface, Corbin is a great guy to pick as your first feud. That appears to be the plan now that Elias destroyed Corbin with a guitar shot that sent the fans into a frenzy. WWE needs a new babyface to take help fill the void left by Reigns. Elias seems to be the company's choice.

Loser: DX

Perhaps the news of Reigns diagnosis and the likely scrambling that would result left Triple H reeling, but this promo by DX was not entertaining. The subsequent video of the Brothers of Destruction was even worse.

For what it was, it served its purpose and the highlight of the promo was the reference to NXT, that Shawn and Triple H admitted to running and calling the future of the company. Still, the promo was too long and the claim that Triple H versus The Undertaker was something that sold out the venue in Australia was laughable. Technically, the main event of a sold-out show was Triple H vs Taker, but fans would have flocked to that event if Jinder Mahal was leading the way.

Winners: Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre

Strowman appears officially back on the side of good, even though he's never been truly "good" in the babyface sense of the word. He came out after the announcement he would be facing Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel and threatened Paul Heyman before being attacked from behind Drew McIntyre.

Both of these men will be immediately moved into the main event scene and likely see major pushed in Reigns' absence. For Strowman, he's a much more natural friend of the fans but a monster to everyone else.

Loser: Dolph Ziggler

The one man sure to be left out in the cold in all of these changes is Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler lost his tag titles, likely his partner and any focus that will be placed on his character. He's the only one of the group of six main guys who will likely get left behind and forgotten.

His partnership with McIntyre was bound to be good for his character. The sudden changes in storyline probably won't help his momentum.

Winners: Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins

It sucks that Ambrose's heel turn comes sooner than it might have otherwise, but with Reigns gone, WWE needed something for The Shield and a split between Ambrose and Rollins makes the most sense. This is one of those things that probably couldn't wait.

They won the tag titles, which in itself is a win, but to make things instantly more interesting, Ambrose turned, potentially abandoning the titles and will likely go into an immediate feud with his former brother. And, while it might not have been planned, that Ambrose chose to turn on the night Reigns was hit with the scariest news of his life makes what Ambrose did even more unforgivable, which is only good for his character.
