There are good and bad things about the Raw after WrestleMania. It has become an annual showcase of WWE cramming in debuts and returns, the fans having their moment in the sun and, in this case, announcements that a new beginning is on the horizon with the Superstar Shake-up. Depending on what you like about WWE, each one of these things can be seen as a positive or a negative.

This year, WrestleMania meant Raw was going to be extra interesting. Sunday's Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns match ended in a strange fashion and Lesnar re-signed with WWE that afternoon. Nia Jax became Raw Women's Champion and a 10-year-old kid was one-half of the Raw Tag Team Champions. There were rumors of call-ups from NXT and WWE whispers certain talents might be switching shows.

With that on the agenda, the show may have been too busy. Here are your winners and losers from Raw on April 9, 2018.

Winner: Ronda Rousey

via wwe.com

After her performance on Sunday, all Ronda Rousey had to do was not screw up on Monday and she would have capped off one of the best weekend debuts in WWE history. She did better than not screw up, she took a step closer to being the Stone Cold of today's generation.

Reminiscent of relationships between Vince and Austin, Rousey came out, didn't fall for Stephanie's weaseling and applied another armbar to the eruption of the crowd. It appears WWE plans to book her like the anti-authority figure Austin was and there are much worse ways to go.

Loser: Nia Jax/Alexa Bliss

via wwe.com

Nia Jax won the Raw Women's Championship in style the night before but if Raw is any indication, she's already stepping aside to make room for debuts like that of Ember Moon. This is the trouble with debuting so many new talents on the night after WrestleMania. The only way to squeeze them in is to do so at the expense of current talent and this was the first of the night with many more to follow.

Jax didn't look bad here, but there was no real focus on her win. Jax should have been given her own moment and instead, it wasn't about her. Moon destroyed Bliss in her debut and it's difficult to say if that was a good idea at this time either.

Loser: No Way Jose

via wwe.com

We'll be the first to admit we're not a fan of the No Way Jose gimmick. It reminds us too much of Adam Rose, which if we've learned anything, is the type of gimmick that does not last on the main roster. If I'm to make an early prediction, it will be a matter of weeks before Jose has officially become an enhancement talent.

Again, another debut on Monday following WrestleMania. This time, they brought him in almost immediately after airing a promo that WWE was going to hold another Superstar Shake-up the following week. Wouldn't it have made more sense to debut him during or after that?

Loser: The IC Title Picture

via wwe.com

The one thing that WWE overdoes is air rematches right after WrestleMania of matches that took place at WrestleMania. There is absolutely no good reason to keep Seth Rollins tied up with The Miz and Finn Balor. If WWE wanted to bring Jeff Hardy back, why not have him simply come out and challenge Rollins?

Sometimes it's best to start fresh when a match is over. This would have been one of those times. Instead, Hardy gets lost in the shuffle here.

Winner: Paige

via wwe.com

While I would have preferred Paige's goodbye was not mixed into the ending of a match that had little to do with her, it was nice to see her get to say her goodbyes to the WWE Universe. She deserved a chance to tell the world what her next step was going to be and to fill people in on her situation in her own way.

It's been known for a while that she wouldn't be back in a WWE ring, yet the company was inexplicably holding off that announcement and Paige wasn't given an opportunity ala Daniel Bryan or Edge. Finally, she got that chance.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

via wwe.com

Keep it short and sweet and move on. That's going to be the key to Lashley succeeding upon his return to WWE and that's what the company did. Don't have him speak because he's not all that good at it. Let him show his power because he has a ton of it. Put him in the ring with someone you want to see get destroyed. WWE checked off all of these boxes.

It will be interesting to keep an eye on both Lashley and Lesnar at the same time to see if these stories are interconnected. Should we start a pool to see how long he keeps both names?

Winner: Authors of Pain

via wwe.com

Like the Bludgeon Brothers on SmackDown Live, watch out for the AOP on Raw. They had a successful debut, destroying Heath Slater and Rhyno and in the process dumped Paul Ellering which is not too surprising.

These guys have been long overdue for their call-ups and you can tell they are already getting stronger and their in-ring skills have grown to the point they deserve the main roster spot.

Winner: Samoa Joe

via wwe.com

This is a return that made sense. Joe targeting Reigns is logical considering their history and if Reigns is moving away from Lesnar, Joe is a perfect diversion. Joe is a savage and Reigns is vulnerable. The timing is right and it puts Joe right back in the main event scene.

Hopefully, it leads to Joe having another go-around with Lesnar because there's unfinished business there as well.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

via wwe.com

WWE might actually be doing the right thing here with Bray Wyatt. He's back, not too changed but feels fresh because of his new association with Hardy. There's something about what's going on that makes them fun to watch as a team but in the background, there's an ever-looming chance Wyatt is scheming.

It could be fun to see where WWE takes this and there's a chance they can re-right a serious wrong in how Hardy vs. Wyatt played out the first time.

Winner: Owens and Zayn Unemployed

via wwe.com

To see Owens vs Zayn on Raw for a spot on the show felt like a bad idea until neither won and then it immediately became interesting. With the two talents jobless and the Superstar Shake-up around the corner, they could be the most interesting guys to watch next week.

Watching them try and find work could be an opportunity for some very creative writing.
