Roman Reigns is still Universal Champion, and he didn't need The Usos at ringside looking out for him.

There has been tension in Roman Reigns' camp since Jimmy Uso returned to TV. Tension at a terrible time for The Tribal Chief as he prepared to defend the Universal Title against Cesaro. That tension remained present all the way up until, and throughout WrestleMania Backlash. So much so that Reigns sent Jey Uso away just as he was about to go through the curtain.

After having Jey aid him in defending his title a number of times, Reigns proved at WrestleMania he is quite capable of beating people by himself. It has actually been well over a year since he last lost a singles match. That streak continues as on Sunday night, again without anyone other than Paul Heyman at ringside, Reigns retained his title.

As was to be expected from these two, and a match that was Cesaro's first-ever singles bout on a PPV for a World Title, it was almost definitely match of the night. In fact this might well be a contender for match of the year once all is said and done. Cesaro might not have won, but proved he is indeed worthy of the spot at the top table he has been allowed these past few months.

While there might not have been an Uso in sight bell to bell, Jey skulked to the ring after the fact like a scalded dog. The former Tag Team Champion sheepishly placed a lay around Reigns' neck before dropping a groggy Cesaro with a superkick. That's when Seth Rollins' music hit and The Architect arrived to add insult to injury.

Rollins beat Cesaro down further to close the show as Reigns and Jey made their way back to the locker room. No more mention of Jimmy and what Reigns thinks of him after tonight. Next up for WWE is Hell in a Cell. What's next for everyone involved in tonight's final match and the Universal Title will likely become clearer five days from now on SmackDown.
