Renee Paquette has opened up on the negatives of her career with WWE. The former presenter moved on from the promotion after SummerSlam last year but has remained relevant due to her very successful podcast and various appearances on other outlets.

Paquette was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio and revealed she’s still not sure what’s next for her as it pertains to wrestling. She released a new book called Messy In The Kitchen: My Guide to Eating Deliciously, Hosting Fabulously and Sipping Copiously, a few days ago, however.

In her Busted Open interview, the personality formerly known as Renee Young was asked what she didn’t miss about the business. She claimed to love everything about the wrestling side of things but pointed out that the production part is what doesn’t sit very well with her as she doesn’t fancy being micromanaged.

“For me it’s not the wrestling,” she said in quotes transcribed by Wrestling Inc. “The wrestling side of wrestling I love. It’s the production side of things that can be a kick in the lady dick. Just being micromanaged. I don’t like being micromanaged, I don’t like being under the magnifying glass as much as one is or can be in that world. You think you go through it once and ‘okay, I’m safe!’ and then like, another year later or so its ‘you’re back under the microscope again.’ Trying to adapt to that and trying to be a people pleaser, while also staying true to yourself, can be a very fine line to walk. And it can be very exhausting.”

Paquette revealed she was particularly disenchanted with her role on WWE Raw as she just didn’t feel like her work was considered satisfactory.

“It’s really tough because my confidence was also in the shitter at the time, so I felt like I was getting hammered from both sides,” she explained. “I was like ‘oh my God, why am I here? I don’t know why I’m here anymore. I feel like no one is happy with what I’m doing.’ And I’m trying my best to make the best of this situation and it’s a fantastic opportunity. But you go into something and already feel like your confidence is a little bit shattered, you’re not going to have a great performance.”

Why Renee Paquette Left WWE

Renee Young

The 35-year-old announced she would be leaving WWE during SummerSlam last August, confirming the PPV would mark her last appearance. She would note that she left because WWE Backstage got canceled but would return for a promotional episode alongside Paige and Booker T to promote the Royal Rumble back in January.

She also cited a lack of concern from her bosses after she contracted COVID-19 last year as one of the reasons she felt uncomfortable working for WWE.
