WWE has yet to announce a date and location for this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view.

The show always takes place in the month of August, so an announcement should come sooner rather than later.

On Friday morning, WrestleVotes shared some interesting details regarding this year's show.

Apparently, WWE is considering the idea of having SummerSlam mark the start of a "return to touring". WrestleVotes added that the show "might be even earlier than usual this year", and that three to four "locations are on the table."

Last month, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that WWE is planning to have fans in attendance for SummerSlam. Last year's show took place at the Amway Center (the first ThunderDome venue) in Orlando, Florida.

Two weeks ago, WWE Chief Financial Officer Kristina Salen said in an earnings call that the company hopes to "return to touring in the second half of this year."

Last week, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, reported "there were hints" about a possible return to touring in June. According to Meltzer, WWE talents were previously told that touring could resume in August or possibly late July.

WrestleMania 37 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida marked WWE's first show with a live crowd since the March 11, 2020 episode of NXT. Day one of the show reportedly drew 17,946 fans, and the second night reportedly garnered 18,501.

At this time, WWE has two upcoming 2021 pay-per-views with confirmed dates and locations: WrestleMania Backlash (May 15) and Money in the Bank (June 20) at the Yuengling Center. Extreme Rules will reportedly take place on July 18, also at the Yuengling Center.

SummerSlam 2021 Should Be Very Exciting

SummerSlam 2021 should mark another thrilling WWE pay-per-view. Having fans back in attendance will obviously be a gift for the superstars, for starters. And given SummerSlam's status as one of the major WWE pay-per-views, it's safe to guess that we'll be in for several surprises. SummerSlam may be three months away, but you can already feel the excitement for this year's show.
