It sounds like WWE has settled on a location for SummerSlam 2021, and the pay-per-view will reportedly take place on a Saturday evening this time.

Initially, it was reported that SummerSlam would take place on Aug. 22. But Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast reported on Thursday that SummerSlam will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium. WrestleVotes also heard the same thing from a source, noting that SummerSlam "is listed" internally for that date:

Allegiant Stadium (located in Paradise, Nevada) is the home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders. The stadium has a capacity of 65,000, but it didn't hold any fans during the 2020 NFL season because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Allegiant Stadium opened in July of last year.

Two weeks ago, it was reported that WWE was considering Las Vegas for SummerSlam, with Madison Square Garden in New York also in the running. But at this time, it looks like Las Vegas will host the event for the first time ever.

SummerSlam 2020 took place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. This was the first pay-per-view to use the ThunderDome concept that debuted on the Aug. 21 episode of SmackDown. SummerSlam 2019 was held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, and the previous four SummerSlam events took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Last week, WWE revealed its plans for a 25-city tour that will commence with the July 16 episode of SmackDown in Houston, Texas. The tour will run through Labor Day on Sept. 6.

The First SummerSlam Event In Vegas

Assuming the event is indeed held in Vegas, as noted above, this will mark the first time ever where the city hosts SummerSlam. Nevada has never held a SummerSlam event, and the state last hosted a WWE pay-per-view three years ago — Elimination Chamber at T-Mobile Arena on Feb. 25, 2018.
