WWE has made some drastic changes to its television product over the past two years.

One of the main changes? Cutting back significantly on the usage of television authority figures.

Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon no longer work as the "commissioners" of Raw and SmackDown, respectively. They only appear on WWE programming occasionally these days.

Kurt Angle's role as the GM of Raw ended in the summer of 2018, months before his in-ring retirement. In December of that year, Shane announced that Paige would no longer serve as the GM of SmackDown.

Last year, WWE started to use Adam Pearce as a WWE official and on-screen authority personality. And apparently, WWE chairman Vince McMahon is pleased with Pearce's performance thus far.

According to a report from Ringside News, McMahon is a fan of Pearce's television work, believing "it's credible."

Pearce has been prominently featured in several main event programs on both Raw and SmackDown. He has handed out storyline suspensions to top stars like Charlotte Flair (reinstated this week) and Braun Strowman.

Back in January, Pearce earned a Universal Championship match with Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble. But on the Jan. 15 episode of SmackDown, Pearce feigned a knee injury and removed himself from the match, with Kevin Owens coming in as the replacement.

Pearce Has Excelled In This Role

WWE was often criticized too much for overusing on-screen authority characters, especially heels ones. Pearce has been a nice change, often siding with the babyfaces. His short-term program with Reigns was entertaining and humorous, and he provides great energy on the show.

With Pearce shining in this role, it's safe to assume that WWE won't be bringing back the commissioner and/or GM positions on Raw or SmackDown any time soon. They don't have to as long as Pearce is in his current role, after all.
