WWE superstar Rey Mysterio has had his say on startup promotion All Elite Wrestling, revealing he's all for the competition within the industry.

Tony Khan's company has started off with a bang, debuting a very impressive Double or Nothing and tickets for their All Out show sold out in 15 minutes on Friday. AEW will be hosting a weekly show on TNT in the US later this year, while they've also struck a deal with UK broadcasters ITV4.

Mysterio, who was a guest on the recent WINCLY podcast, says that the new promotion's emergence can only be good for the industry as WWE stars will now have to step their game up.

“That is something we’re all gonna have to face and step up our game for talent, behind the scenes, everybody,” he said (h/t Sescoops.com). “But at the end of the day, this is great for business in general. We’re all gonna wanna do our best to become the best. I don’t think there is better options than wanting to be the best at your brand.”

While WWE and AEW shows will be airing on different nights, fans are still licking their lips on the possibility of something similar to Monday Night War. Mysterio, for one, thinks that the upcoming rivalry could probably be likened to the feud between WWE and WCW back in the day.

“It still hasn’t because it’s not out there fully yet. But I’m sure there’s gonna be some flashbacks to all of us that were in that Monday Night Wars era,” the masked star said. “But the buzz is going around already and a lot of people are either gonna crank up their energy level or be confused and be like, ‘What’s going on?’ But I think it’s gonna be the other way around and everyone wants to work hard at their craft.”

Wrestling fans stand to benefit the most from this development. Lots of WWE viewers have cut disenchanted figures over the past few years but Vince McMahon could be made to improve standards all around depending on AEW's success.

This can only be good for fans as they'll have two top options to choose from. Yay competition!
