What has been the most-talked-about match of 2020, for all the wrong reasons, has finally happened. The Eye for an Eye match at Extreme Rules.

It might be a secondary PPV filling the lull before SummerSlam, but some of the matches at Extreme Rules have had fans talking. The Swamp Fight hasn't happened at the time of typing this but we are fascinated to see what happens. Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler might be predictable but it should be a great match. Plus, anything Sasha Banks and Bayley touch right now turns to gold.

However, the match being discussed more than any of the above was the one fought between Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins. WWE's first-ever Eye for an Eye match. Mysterio decided that since Rollins used the steel steps to pierce his eye two months ago, the stipulation at Extreme Rules should be that to win, one man must remove the other's eye.

There were all sorts of rumors swirling during the build to this one, including talk of WWE adding a CGI eye to the action after the fact. That didn't happen. It was far worse than that, although the good news is fans not watching closely might have missed it. All WWE did was hand Mysterio a phony looking fake eye to hold between his glove and his mask at the end of the match.

Oh, and to make matters better or worse, depending on where you stand on this whole thing, they had Rollins throw up upon seeing his handy work. An apt reaction to seeing someone's eye pop out, we suppose. The match itself was actually pretty good, as one might expect between two Superstars of this caliber. It also included plenty of unique offense as both men attempted to gouge out the other's eyes.

As for what comes next, we're assuming that spells the end of Mysterio's latest stint in WWE. Rumor has it he has been working without a contract, and now that he has been storyline blinded by Rollins, it would be tricky for WWE to bring him back. We wonder if he will wrestle with a blind gimmick should he sign for AEW.
