It appears the rumors Rey Mysterio has officially signed a contract with WWE are false. While a deal appears to be close, there are still a few hurdles standing in the way, including the big independent show All In set for September 1.

Dave Meltzer reported today that earlier reports Mysterio had finally come to an agreement with WWE after months of conversation are not accurate. He says talks are ongoing and going well but there are a couple major issues that need ironing out.

WWE and Mysterio are at the stage where they are discussing his final wrestling commitments outside WWE and that includes his advertised appearance for All In, a show organized by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks and Mysterio's return to NJPW for the G1 finals in August. The WWE is hoping to convince Mysterio not to appear — at least for All In — but Mysterio is insisting he stay committed to the show because he gave his word and has been advertised to appear.

Rey is also the current Heavyweight Champion for The Crash promotion in Mexico and dropping that belt would need to happen before coming back to WWE on a regular basis.

It is already confirmed that Rey is scheduled to be at Florida Supercon this weekend, meaning fans who hoped to see him at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view will likely have to wait a while.

Prior to shows like All In being the hurdle in contract negotiations between Rey and WWE, the reason an agreement hadn't come together was the two sides finding common ground on a schedule that would allow Mysterio enough time away from the company to be with his family and train his son Dominik. It appears WWE and Mysterio have worked through whatever those issues were, have found a workable schedule and now it's simply a matter of Rey's committed dates.

Mysterio was very busy in 2018 working multiple shows for multiple promotions so it's understandable working out a deal of this kind could take some time.
