Rick Nash has not ruled out a return to the NHL, but like Chris Bosh who wants to come back to the NBA, Nash says a return to the game he loves is not as easy as just signing to play again.
We've now heard the phrase "it's complicated" a couple times when referring to professional athletes facing retirement but not wanting to retire this season. According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, former Toronto Raptor and Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh isn't ruling out returning to the New York Knicks and says he will come back if they make him a deal. He also added it's complicated because "It's up to the team doctors from that team. And then we go from there." Part of the reason Bosh said as much was because he was tired of people suggesting he was "retired."

Rick Nash is apparently following suit after responding to a tweet that suggested he was ready to call it a career in hockey and announce his retirement. Rear Admiral posted on Twitter that he heard from a source Nash will file the paperwork on his retirement and quickly thereafter, multiple sources started suggesting that information was false.
Rick Nash’s agent Joe Resnick said, “There is no truth to the tweet that Rick Nash is retiring today. Our position has not changed since July 1.” Aaron Portzline of The Athletic (subscription required) then quoted Nash from an interview where the player said, “There’s a chance I could get healthy, come back and be great. But there’s definitely a chance that I don’t.”
Nash explained the decision to stay away from the game has not been easy but feels like the right one. He said, “my family is what’s most important to me, and I have to get my health in the right spot before I figure out what my plans are, and I don’t know when that will be. "

If Nash is able to return, the Columbus Blue Jackets could be one of five or six teams that would be interested in signing the free agent. Speculation is he would like to return to a Stanley Cup contender and one NHL media insider has speculated Nash might look at joining a team like the Maple Leafs later in the season for the league minimum.
It would be great to see Nash come back but he needs to make the right decision for his health, his family and choose a destination that makes sense.
