In an interview with Metro.co.uk, WWE United States Champion Riddle threw some shade at WWE legend The Undertaker who recently said that WWE’s current talent is “soft.” The 35-year-old wrestler also compared the promotion to “a high school” due to its alleged cattiness.
“Pro wrestling is the most outlandish high school you’ll ever go to. Monday Night Raw is just like, ‘what’s gonna happen this week?’ If anybody has a problem with anybody, nobody says it. It’s always like, ‘pst pst’. I’m like, why are we hearing stuff like this? ‘Say something, do something! I’m not saying you have to go The Undertaker route and fight each other and be men about it!” he said.
“Some of the legends come in and they find their own locker room, they stay away from the boys. But then there’s legends like Gillberg, Edge, Christian – legends like that, they came in, they sat with all the boys in the main locker room. We jib-jabbed, flapped gums, talked shop and had fun,” he added.
Earlier this week, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T blasted Riddle after he said older wrestlers were “dumber” for not taking care of themselves, adding, “The respect issue goes a long frickin’ way more than anything. That’s where the business is totally different than it was when I was coming up.” He also recommended that Riddle return to UFC where he performed before being fired for testing positive for marijuana in February 2013.
Last Sunday, Riddle defeated Bobby Lashley and John Morrison in a Triple Threat match at the Elimination Chamber PPV to win the WWE United States Championship, his first title on the main roster and his first singles title in WWE.
Meanwhile, The Undertaker, a seven-time world heavyweight champion in WWF/E, who retired on June 21, 2020, last appeared at end of the Survivor Series event on November 22, which honored his thirty years with WWE. He ended his farewell speech saying, "My time has come to let The Undertaker Rest in Peace."
