Ring of Honor has officially announced is has made the mutual decision to part ways with head booker Marty Scurll.

2020 was a pretty terrible year for wrestling in a lot of ways, and not just because of the pandemic. It's common knowledge that the wrestling business could be a pretty dark place behind the scenes in the past. However, last year's Speaking Out movement revealed that wrestling's darker side didn't disappear with a previous generation.

Multiple fans and wrestlers came forward online and made allegations against a number of people in the business who allegedly abused their power to take advantage of, assault, and in some cases even abuse them. Personalities from WWE, AEW, and various other promotions were accused of such actions. Some of the allegations were years old while others were more recent.

Ring of Honor's Marty Scurll was one of those with pretty serious allegations made against him. Scurll was accused of taking advantage of a 16-year-old girl while she was drunk. The ROH booker admitted that the encounter did indeed happen, but that everything the two of them did was consensual. ROH announced in June of last year that it was investigating the allegations, and Scurll has not appeared on its product since.

In fact, four months later, ROH removed Scurll's profile from its website. Fast forward another three months to this week and the promotion has announced that it and Scurll have mutually agreed to part ways. The tweet announcing the news provides no additional information, and the results of ROH's investigation into the alleged incident are currently unknown. It is also not known what Scurll will do next and whether he plans on staying in the business.

Scurll was, and possibly still is, close with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. It was assumed at one point that he would join them in AEW, but he opted to try and help build a better product at ROH at the time. The chances of him joining up with the rest of The Elite after this are very slim. Here's hoping ROH reveals more information regarding its investigation, and that we learn more regarding the other accusations made during the Speaking Out movement.
