The minute Rob Gronkowski retired from the NFL, there was a large contingent of fans who figured all roads would lead to WWE. Appearing beside WWE stars, he furthered speculation.

Former New England Patriots player and previous WWE celebrity, Rob Gronkowski was also at the USO Metro DC 37th Annual Awards Dinner in Washington, DC. On behalf of WWE, Braun Strowman, Mojo Rawley and Mickie James were in attendance and while this wasn't a WWE-held event, it hasn't stopped people from speculating what the future might hold.

There have been talks in the past of Gronk joining WWE and he's already made an appearance in the ring at WrestleMania. With the annual spectacular around the corner and Gronkowski free to pursue other avenues, the connection makes some sense.

NBC Boston picked up on Gronkowski's appearance and discussed the idea of him possibly signing with WWE. This comes mere days after good friend Mojo Rawley told TMZ that he believes fans will see his friend in a WWE ring again.

What This Means

Could Gronkowski show up at this year's WrestleMania? Possibly. With some free time on his hands, no NFL restrictions holding him back and WWE always willing to add a few surprises to their show, it's hard to rule anything out.

Will he become a regular member of the WWE roster? That's an entirely different story and one that will take a lot more time to answer. There is a huge difference between showing your face at an event and training to become a WWE Superstar. How much Gronk really loves the business and is willing to put the time in will be the final determining factor in that saga.

As for the dinner itself, there's no word yet on if Gronk was there with the WWE crew, or if he was there on his own. For all we know, he was simply hanging out with his friend Mojo.
