Even though a lot of top NFL receivers are signing massive deals this preseason, Rob Gronkowski isn't focused on his contract this year and prefers to place his attention on the field.

Suddenly, the NFL teams decided to empty their pockets in order to keep their star receivers. The Giants player Odell Beckham Jr. became the highest-paid wide receiver, signing a $95 million five-year contract. The Seattle Seahawks signed the WR Tyler Locket to a three-year extension up to $37.8 million. The Buccaneers inked the wide receiver Mike Evans for five more years with a contract worth $82.5 million, $55 guaranteed.

On Tuesday during a press conference, when Gronkowski was asked on his opinion about all of the big contracts that wide receivers are getting this year, he said that it’s always good to see that, although he thinks it would be “really cool” for tight ends to get such big contracts.

“It’s always good to see guys like that that got that talent,” Gronkowski said, “I’m in for the players always. I mean, I’m a player, so it’s good to see that.”

When a reporter asked him if he would like to see tight ends making as much as other players in the passing catching category, he answered that it “would be pretty cool.”

However, he pointed out that getting a contract extension is not his priority for this year.

It is what it is,” he said, “that’s not really my focus. I got a long season ahead and just trying to focus on what I need to really do and just let everything else play out.”

The 29-year-old player has two years left on his current contract, which carries $8 million this year and $9 million for the next one. This salary places him fourth on the highest-paid tight ends in the NFL. The new Packer Jimmy Graham is the highest-paid TE with a $10 million per year contract. An amount of money which is far from the top 10 wide receivers with the biggest contract. Stefon Diggs from the Vikings ranks 10th on this list, making 14.4 million per year.

If there’s any tight end who can get a contract extension as good as the ones that all the top wide receivers are getting, it's Gronk. Just last season, he pulled in 69 receptions for 1,084 yards, which is more than what most of these top WR did last year.
