Legendary New England Patriots Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement from football this offseason, leading to speculation that he could find a career in WWE.

Stephanie McMahon previously congratulated "Gronk" on his retirement and told him the doors are open if he wants to join WWE. Last year, Triple H suggested that Gronkowski could give him a call if he was interested in coming to the squared circle.

Gronkowski hasn't fully decided what the next career path is. With a strong build and hilarious personality, he has the potential to make it big in Hollywood. But is the future Hall of Fame inductee interested in rejoining the world of sports entertainment? It would appear so, but not in a full-time capacity.

"With wrestling, I don't feel like I would be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing I'm down for," Gronkowski said, according to Brent Brookhouse of CBS Sports. "And that's to do one crazy match. Practice it for a little bit, go out there, like in a Royal Rumble, go out there, I got my friend in WWE (Mojo Rawley), practice it and do a full-on WWE match.

"I'm not saying when. Maybe five years. I got the rest of my life to do that. I've always dreamed about doing that, just one time, going in there and going full out. That may be a possibility, one time, down the road."

Gronkowski made an appearance at WrestleMania 33, where he sat front row while supporting Rawley in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Jinder Mahal came over and confronted Gronkowski - knocking the latter's drink out of his hand.

The 6-foot-6 Gronkowski ran into the ring and bumped into Mahal, setting the stage for Mawley (his real-life friend), to win the event. Gronkowski enjoyed his few moments in the ring there, and there should be little doubting that he's capable of putting on a truly entertaining WWE match.

Gronkowski was a five-time Pro Bowler over his nine NFL seasons, winning three Super Bowl championships with the Patriots. A long list of injuries unfortunately hampered Gronkowski through his career. He suffered a broken forearm twice, a herniated disc, a torn ACL as well as a concussion, a high ankle sprain and various leg injuries. Being only 30 years of age, a return to football can't be fully ruled out - though Gronk has maintained that he's happy in retirement.

What This Means

It would take a while for Gronkowski to train and prepare himself for a wrestling match. But as he pointed out, there's plenty of time to eventually take part in one. WWE and Gronk seem to have mutual interest, so it really only seems like a matter of time until we get to see him in the ring.
