The Rock is one of the greatest stars that wrestling has ever seen, and he’s gone on to become quite arguably the biggest movie star on the planet, but he never forgets his roots. As such an extremely gifted talent, when he gives a young wrestler a ‘seal of approval’, we should all stand up and take notice. That has recently happened on Twitter, as a fan questioned Rocky on how he felt with Ricochet using a variation of his People’s Elbow (Ricochet turns it into a moonsault), and The Great One responded in this fashion.
Ricochet has been wrestling for over a decade now and he often defies gravity throughout his matches. Now that he’s finally in NXT, a much larger audience will be getting to see just how incredible he is, and the star that he is going to become. While a simple tweet from Rock isn’t going to get him to the top, it definitely helps, especially with someone who is so close to Vince McMahon. But the ‘One and Only’ Ricochet is no stranger to hard work, and it’s likely he’ll become the megastar we all predict.
Rock in his tweet wrote that Ricochet is going to usher in a new era of wrestling, and that he’s a future champ. With the look, the charisma/in-ring presence and the death defying aerial offense, it’s hard to argue, but obviously, we do have our doubts. They aren’t about King Ricochet however, as there was once a man from Newcastle Upon Tyne that had the exact same potential, and after wasting away in the cruiserweight division, he’s currently in wrestling limbo. So until Ricochet hoists that WWE/Universal Championship above his head, we aren’t going to get too far ahead of ourselves.
There are plenty of main event stars waiting down in NXT, from the Velveteen Dream (who Vince McMahon is reportedly very high on), Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, EC3 and others, but Ricochet stands out among the pack. Only time will tell if all his potential is turned into World Championship gold.
