A few key names spring to mind when we hear the phrase Attitude Era. Ken Shamrock isn't always one of them, but he should be.

The Attitude Era is looked back upon fondly by most wrestling fans aged between 25 and 40 right now. The likes of Stone Cold, The Rock, Kane, and The Undertaker winning the Monday Night War for WWE via any means possible. Those names are just the tip of the iceberg, of course. Ken Shamrock is another who deserves credit, something he doesn't get enough of.

There are a few things WWE introduced to its product during that era which one them the war versus WCW. Legitimacy was one of those things, and Shamrock brought it to the table by the bag full. Although a trained wrestler, before signing with WWE, Shamrock made a name for himself during the very early years of MMA. It was what he learned in that arena that made him so valuable in Vince McMahon's.

Since we now find ourselves in an era where age means nothing in a wrestling ring, we now find ourselves on the cusp of a Shamrock return. Not to WWE, unfortunately, but to Impact Wrestling. Before even stepping back in the ring to wrestle Moose, Shamrock is already trying to get himself booked in the future, asking fans whether they would like to see him tussle with Impact Champion, Brian Cage.

Not only does Cage appear to be on board with that, but so does one of Shamrock's oldest wrestling rivals. The Rock. Rock chimed in and lauded the work Shamrock did opposite him in WWE during the 1990s. "Ken Shamrock helped build 'The Rock' character. Huge Attitude Era influence. We tore the houses down together. I’ll always be grateful and respectful," Rock wrote on Twitter.

For younger fans unfamiliar with Rock and Shamrock's rivalry, we'd recommend firing up the WWE Network. If nothing else, check out the pair's match for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania XIV. Plus, don't forget Shamrock will be competing for Impact next month. Here's hoping it goes well and leads to more matches for The Most Dangerous Man on the Planet.
