Roman Reigns is now a SmackDown Live Superstar. The first thing he did on the show was deliver a Superman Punch to Vince McMahon.
The Superstar Shakeup is over and done with for another year and a lot has changed in WWE over the last couple of days. What we hope is that this 48 hour period was something of a reset for WWE. All three of the company's top brands have been bleeding together far too much for our liking during the build to WrestleMania.
On Monday night, Raw acquired the likes of The Usos and AJ Styles from SmackDown Live, as well as Cedric Alexander from 205 Live and The Viking Experience from NXT. As always, fans were left scratching their heads as to what on Earth SmackDown Live was going to do without all of its lost stars. Then came Tuesday night and we discovered which wrestlers the blue brand got in return.
During the gap between Raw and SmackDown Live, news broke that Vince McMahon would be appearing on Tuesday night. The chairman would apparently be revealing the biggest acquisition in SmackDown history. Mr. McMahon followed through on that promise, sort of. During the closing segment on the show, the boss welcomed the acquisition to the ring. That acquisition was Elias.
Although fans understandably booed right away, considering Elias's track record we knew that he would be quickly interrupted. What we did not expect was that interruption to be at the hands of Roman Reigns. The Big Dog's music hit and he proceeded to march to the ring. After dropping The Drifter, the former Universal Champion then proceeded to deliver a Superman Punch to the chairman.
While Reigns' arrival on Team Blue certainly meant Superstar Shakeup week ended with a bang, we still don't entirely understand who is making these decisions. Reigns' short and sweet promo on Tuesday hinted that The Big Dog decided to come to SmackDown Live himself. However he ended up there, we're glad that he decided to do so otherwise Mr. McMahon's promise of a massive acquisition would have fallen flat.
