There's hardly a basketball fan out there who hasn't heard a few funny Ron Artest stories, but you'd think they'd have stopped resurfacing by now.

Fortunately for everyone, that isn't the case and yet another laughable bit has made its way to the Twitterverse.

Artest, one of the most eccentric players to ever play in the NBA, is probably best known for his controversial tendencies. This is a guy who broke Michael Jordan's rib in a pickup game and took center stage in the worst NBA brawl ever.

Artest legally changed his name to Metta World Peace in 2011 but is back to being Ron Artest for BIG3 purposes, having played in the three-on-three league this year.

The player was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1999 and legend has it that he applied to become a Best Buy employee during his rookie year so he could get discounts on items.

This on its own is already a knee-slapper, but Artest did us all one better. He put Jerry Krause's name as a reference on his application.

Krause, who unfortunately passed away this year, was the Bulls' general manager at the time and was shocked to receive a call from Best Buy attempting to get proof of good character for one of his players. Obviously, he let the company know they should forget about it.

Ordinarily, a story about an NBA player poised to make several million actually trying to moonlight just to get employee discounts on electronics would be unbelievable. But such revelations are hard to dismiss when Artest is involved.

You'd have to blame Best Buy, though. Their discounts must have been very attractive to get a professional basketball player on their waiting list for a job.
