There's no doubt that Ronda Rousey officially being a part of WWE is huge news. There was some question, however, as to how much her presence would affect sales and tickets for WWE. After all, her being an MMA fighter and not a wrestler, the entire reasoning for bringing in Rousey was to affect sales.

At first, it didn't look as though it was working. When WWE announced Rousey was going to sign her official contract at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, the idea was that the news would sell tickets immediately. That didn't happen. Instead, there was some concern Rousey wouldn't make as big a dent as people were hoping.

Then, as the pay-per-view drew nearer, tickets started to move. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports WWE had sold 8,000 tickets for Elimination Chamber a few weeks out but by the time the event had rolled around, actually sold over 11,000 seats for the event.

The better news was that the following night's episode of Raw had only 8,500 tickets sold for the show but a last-minute flood of walk-up ticket sales meant the building had more than 10,000 people attending the show. Many behind the scenes in WWE contribute that bump in ticket sales directly to Rousey’s appearance. WWE hadn't announced her appearance on the episode of Raw until the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view itself.

As a result, WWE is under the impression they're making the right decision by pushing Rousey in such a prominent role in WWE programming. WWE is writing a storyline that will see her make her way to WrestleMania 34 in a program with Kurt Angle, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon. It's a marquee spot to be despite the fact that this will be her first WrestleMania as an in-ring performer.

All that's left is for Rousey to continue her momentum and prove that she has what it takes in the ring to be among the best. Outsiders and media think she can be one of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling. So far, she's off to a strong start.
